Cooking Delectable Meals For Singapore’s Needy at Willing Hearts
Willing Hearts is a home-grown charity that provides food to those in need, giving a helping hand to the Voluntary Welfare Organization’s (VWO) 5000 beneficiaries, which includes the elderly, disabled, low-income families, children from single parent families, as well as migrant workers.
On Wednesday, 4 July 2018, Centaline Singapore Property Agency and its 30 real estate professionals took time off their busy schedule to whip up packed lunches in time for delivery at Willing Hearts - from dawn to midday. For five hours straight, the management team and real estate professionals jumped straight into the daily grind of activities, from preparing ingredients like chopping vegetables, packing lunchboxes, delivering lunchboxes to beneficiaries and cleaning up the area right after meals are prepared. Centaline Property’s PR Manager noted,” This is the first time that our company participates in a Community Outreach initiative. Our staff and agents are thrilled when they heard about this, and I can feel the strong passion in them.”
Nowadays, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs are fast becoming popular, especially among the Millennial generation. Not only CSR initiatives positively brand an organization, but also boost employee morale and internal engagement. According to Project Helping, a digital portal that encourages corporate goodwill activities, 92% of employees who volunteer through their workplace report higher emotional and physical wellness rates. Moreover, 66% of employees who participate in their company’s CSR initiatives report a greater sense of commitment to their employer and jobs as a result of their involvement.
In order to attract newly-minted and seasoned realtors to join its growing stable of real estate professionals, the company has plans to work long-term with Willing Hearts and similar VWOs to promote a healthy and friendly organizational culture.
Says David Hui, Centaline Property Group and Centaline Singapore Property Agency’s General Manager: “We would like to promote a volunteering culture within the organization. Through training, we believe that we can build and empower a team of professionals to serve the society and at the same time, extending a helping hand to those in need.”
